CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GW2 TUESDAY INJURY LIST
The champions league GW2 starts today, Tuesday 29th september and here are the injury updates.
BARCELONA V BAYER LEVERKUSEN
Lionel Messi’s knee ligament injury has rocked world football, and the Argentina international leads a lengthy injury list that Luis Enrique has to deal with at Camp Nou.
Rafinha faces six months out after requiring surgery on his cruciate ligament while Thomas Vermaelen (calf) remains out, though Jordi Alba (neck) and Claudio Bravo (calf) could make their returns.
Leverkusen remain without Charles Aranguiz after he tore his Achilles tendon in August while Omer Toprak, Tin Jedvaj (both thigh injuries) and Roberto Hilbert (knee) could miss out.
ARSENAL V OLYMPIACOS
Olivier Giroud’s red card against Dinamo Zagreb means he misses out through suspension at the Emirates Stadium while Danny Welbeck (knee) and Jack Wilshere (ankle) remain long-term absentees.
Francis Coquelin is yet to return from his hamstring injury and Mathieu Flamini limped off against Leicester City, meaning both midfielders are a doubt for the visit of the Greek outfit.
Olympiacos are also without a player through suspension as Luka Milivojevic misses out while Giannis Maniatis (knee ligament) and Alejandro DomÃnguez (quad) are both major doubts for the trip to north London.
CSKA MOSCOW V PSV
Jetro Willems and Florian Jozefzoon (both knee ligaments) are long-term absentees for the Eredivisie champions as they travel to the Russian capital while Luuk de Jong is set to miss out with an ankle problem.
Andres Guardado, meanwhile, is set to be out of action for up to six weeks after picking up an ankle injury against Manchester United.
JUVENTUS V SEVILLA
Sami Khedira (thigh) is back in training for last season’s runners-up, though the visit of the Europa League holders may come too soon for the Germany international.
Mario Mandzukic is definitely out, however, having suffered a thigh injury that will sideline him for three weeks while Claudio Marchisio (adductor) is another major absentee.
Wing-back Stephan Lichtsteiner is also unlikely to take any part as his chest condition remains under evaluation, though Kwadwo Asamoah could come into contention after a knee problem.
Gael Kakuta and Sergio Escudero (both muscular), meanwhile, are doubts for the trip to Turin, though Ever Banega (knee), Daniel Carrico (hamstring) and Adil Rami (adductor) are definitely out.
MACCABI TEL-AVIV V DYNAMO KIEV
The home side are set to be without both Nosakhare Igiebor (muscular injury) and Dejan Radonjic (back) are set to miss out for the Israeli outfit as they look to recover from their defeat to Chelsea on matchday one.
Dynamo, meanwhile, welcomed back Yevhen Makarenko (Achilles) last week against FC Obolon-Brovar Kiev.
ATLETICO MADRID V BENFICA
Koke’s hamstring injury is set to rule him out of Wednesday’s clash, but otherwise Diego Simeone has a fully fit squad to pick from.
Benfica, meanwhile, will have Julio Cesar and Ljubomir Fejsa available after both made the matchday squad against Pacos Ferreira on Saturday, but Eduardo Salvio (knee) remains out having undergone surgery.
BAYERN MUNICH V DINAMO ZAGREB
Arjen Robben has returned to training for Bayern following an adductor injury picked up while away with Netherlands, but fellow winger Franck Ribery (ankle) remains out.
Holger Badstuber (thigh) and Jan Kirchhoff (Achilles tendon) remain long-term absentees while Mehdi Benatia (thigh) is also set to miss out.
Dinamo are without Leonardo Sigali (knee) and Gordon Schildenfield (leg muscle) for the trip to the Allianz Arena while Ivo Pinto (leg muscle) is a doubt.
LYON V VALENCIA
Nabil Fekir will miss the majority of the season for the Ligue 1 outfit after damaging his knee ligament while playing for France.
Clement Grenier (thigh) and Gueida Fofani (ankle) are also doubts having not played this season as yet.
Valencia are still without goalkeeper Matthew Ryan (knee) while Jose Gaya could miss out with a hamstring problem.
