BARCELONA showed the difference between a team with Lionel Messi and a team without him as it took a surprising substitution and an inspired comeback to come from 0-1 down at home to BAYER LEVERKUSEN to 2-1 up in the last 10 minutes.
But the greateat surprise yet was BATE BORISOV racing to a 3-0 lead against AS ROMA who had ditto held barca to a draw, despite scoring two goals, they will be wary of the task ahead as leverkusen look in better shape than them at the moment.
Pep Guardiola' super machines just cant stop rumbling on, as lewandowski inspired a 5-0 drubbing of DINAMO KIEV with a hattrick. At this rate it is hard to see any team that can stop this german bullies.
ARSENAL, oh arsenal! fresh from a wonderfull weekend, they gave us what only arsenal can give: a heart breaking performance as they lost 2-3 at home to OLYMPIACOS PIRAEUS to put their chances of progressing in jeopardy. A double header with bayern is the last thing that they need but again, arsenal know how to surprise us.
MACCABI TEL AVIV lost to DINAMO MOSCOW in a clash of the underdogs, disappointing for tel aviv as they have yet to score in 2 games in the league after loosing 4-0 in the first match against chelsea.
Mourinho took his current side; CHELSEA to his former side FC PORTO who had his former goalie iker Cassilas in their ranks. Porto though got the upper hand as they got a 2-1 victory over mourinho. A victory that would no doubt have pleased casillas given the pairs history at real madrid.
LYON lost to VALENCIA in group H to go rock bottom of the group. injuries had hampered the lyon squad but at least a minimum of a goal was expected from them and they failed to deliver adequately.
Fnally, ZENITH ST PETERSBURG won their second group match against belgian side GENT to go top of the group and put one foot in the knock out stages. it was an impressive win from the russian side in a fairly equally ranked group.
