ANALYZING THE AGUERO CONUNDRUM
We FPL managers always like to have the player that will score those hit points each week but when year after year, we know that player who can deliver the points on a regular, then it will be strange not to have him in your team...when fit.
That then becomes the problem, fresh from 5 goals and a 25 point run in GW10, Aguero picked up an injury in the ensuing international break and forced our hands into many rush transfers; many of which have yielded fruit, so his imminent return after this break begs the question:
HOW DO WE SOLVE HIS ISSUE ?
SLOW AND STEADY APPROACH
This first approach is to me the safest and best. With other strikers in top form, it may not be exactly the best option to rush back on aguero as you could give that a one week to complete your player prise rise and analyze his situation as despite us knowing that he can be explosive, he just returned from injury and a back from injury Aguero may not hit a hatrick against Liverpool especially as he isnt currently nailed on to start. The problem with this approach though is that he may just come in right when liverpool are tiring off and punish all those who doubted him.
GOING WITH THE NORM.
So i'm sure many people will go for this approach as they wont want to feel the pain of missing on his power so this is where we will focus on; how to get Aguero in.
1. THE CHEAP FORWARD
For the past few weeks, people have enjoyed having 5 top midfielders and 3 top strikers but when you need £13, you cant afford all except your defence is severely limited. so, lets look at the forward enablers for Aguero
i. AYOZE PEREZ (5.1)
With a 1.6% ownership and a prize of just 5.1, Ayoze could be a very effective differential. Since been moved to the striking position, he has continued to provide returns (23 in the last 3) and with newcastle set for LEI, cry, LIV, more points look to be on the horizon.
ii. ODION IGHALO (5.5)
Its quite surprising that despite him being almost watfords only source of points, he is still ignored. With Aguero out, he was made a scape goat after blanking but has returned more points than many higher strikers but with watfords fixtures (MUN, ast, NOR, sun) being pretty favorable after man utd, he is the best option even though he may not be as much a differential.
iii. AROUNA KONE (5.1)
20 points at the turn of evertons fixtures means he can hit it when the team is on form and yes they are! The fact that he is playing out of position as a right midfieder reduces his potential but being cheap and nailed on and with the best fixtures (AST, bou, CRY, nor, LEI, new), he looks a good threat especially as an alternative for lukaku.
2. THE CHEAP MIDFIELDER
With cheap performing midfielders around, lets look at who takes our top pick.
i. JONATHAN WALTERS (5.8)
May be on the high side but his out of position appeal as a striker draws attention, he scored 2 goals for Ireland over the internationals so can perform when leading the line. Fixtures may not be the best and with Bojan and Diouf set to return soon, his oop appeal could end quickly.
ii. STEVEN DAVIS (4.8)
With set piece duties at hand and playing just behind the striker, the cheap davis could be your man to go, good underlying stats and has produced returns in 3 of the last 4 though his shooting stats could be better. His best appeal is his being an alternative to the expensive mane.
iii. MOUSSA DEMBELE (5.3)
With son, mason, and chadli injured, dembele was pushed forward to the hole and has since given a point for his continued stay there, returns in 3 of his last 4 games and just 0.5% ownership means he can be a cheap differential as well as an alternative to Erickson and eric lamela who are much more expensive though game time could be a problem.
iv. MANUEL LANZINI (5.3)
With Dimitri Payet injured, west hams attacking potential is reduced but lanzini with consistency of 4/9 and pretty good underlying stats is still their best source of points and with 2 home games in the next 3, his potential should rise.
v. ANDERS LINGAARD (4.5)
His goal last week may have been his first but it was well taken and is a proof that he can find chances to shoot at goal. With Mata tallying off and Martial set to return to the top 9 position, man utd attack seem to be looking good for investment and lingaard has been a regular. The only off is van Gaals unpredictability but from the past few games, he looks nailed on in either the left or the right wing role.
There you go, 8 options within 5.0 range to consider if you're bent on buying Aguero this week...see ya.
